What happens to the data
Every drive comes out of the machine and its serial number is logged first. Hard drives get a verified overwrite to NIST SP 800-88, the federal standard. SSDs and NVMe drives get the drive's own firmware erase, because an overwrite can't reach all of the flash. Then you get a certificate listing every drive, its serial, the method and how it was checked.
Need the drives physically destroyed instead? That's done on request through our shredding partner, who issues their own certificate. We never drill a drive and call it destroyed.
Why it matters in North Carolina
North Carolina G.S. 75-64 makes a business responsible for personal information on the drives it gets rid of, and requires it to be made unreadable before disposal. A certificate listing each drive, its serial and the method is the record you keep.
Who calls us
Dental and medical offices, law and accounting firms, insurance and real estate offices, property managers clearing a unit. One person handles your job from the call to the certificate.
