How it works
Send a photo of one machine and a rough count of how many there are. That's all we need to tell you the price — usually free — and when we can come.
You point, we carry. Offices, homes, storage units, back rooms. Nothing needs to be boxed or sorted first.
Every drive is wiped or destroyed, every serial logged. A certificate of sanitization lands in your inbox.
What we take
We don't take CRTs — the old, deep tube-style monitors and TVs, at any size.
We won't put a number on a screen over text, because the size is what decides it and people are rarely sure. Tell us roughly what's there, or send a photo, and we'll tell you before we come.
Business and office clear-outs of roughly ten pieces or more are free. A house with one or two machines has a $95 minimum — a single desktop doesn't cover the drive out and back, and we'd rather say so up front than pad a quote.
Working equipment is refurbished and finds a second owner. Everything else is recycled through licensed channels. Nothing goes to a landfill that doesn't have to — North Carolina law bans it anyway.
For businesses
North Carolina G.S. 75-64 makes your business responsible for personal information that leaves on a hard drive, and requires you to render it unreadable before disposal. If it gets out, the Attorney General has to be notified.
We wipe every drive to NIST SP 800-88, log make, model and serial, verify the result, and issue a certificate of sanitization you keep on file. Certified physical destruction is available on request through our shredding partner.
That paperwork is included. It isn't an upsell.
Small offices, dental and medical practices, law firms, property managers clearing a unit — we come to you, usually within the week, and you deal with one person start to finish.
Questions
What actually happens to my data?
Every drive comes out of the machine and gets its serial number written down before anything else happens. Hard drives get a verified overwrite. SSDs and NVMe drives get the drive's own firmware erase instead, because on flash an overwrite can't reach 7–28% of the chip — that's NIST SP 800-88, the federal standard, and it's the method your auditor will ask about by name. Then you get a certificate listing every drive, its serial, the method used and how it was verified. We don't drill drives and call it destruction — NIST names drilling as inadequate, and a certificate claiming something that didn't happen is worse than no certificate. If you need physical destruction, a certified shredding partner does it and issues their own certificate.
Do you take monitors and TVs?
Yes — and a lot of them are free. A working monitor 24" or bigger we take at no charge, because we can refurbish it and sell it on; same for a working smart TV 50" or larger, as long as the remote is with it. Those are worth something to us, so it would be strange to bill you for them.
The ones that carry a charge are the ones nobody wants second-hand: 19" and 22" monitors, old 4:3 screens, smaller or non-smart TVs, and anything cracked, dim or dead at any size. Those go to the county for disposal and we get charged per unit. It's the one thing we won't quote over text without knowing the size, because the size is the whole answer — so tell us roughly what's there or send a photo, and you'll have the number before we come. No screen is ever a surprise line on an invoice.

How fast can you come?
Most jobs happen within the week, and for a business clear-out we'll usually give you two or three times to choose from the same day you ask. Same-day and after-hours pickups are $75 on top — evenings and weekends included. That's the part the big operators can't do: they have routes and minimums, and we have a phone that one person answers.
Is it really free?
For a business with roughly ten pieces or more, yes — genuinely free, including the wipe and the certificate. We make our money refurbishing and reselling the equipment that still works, not on the pickup. For a house with one or two machines there's a $95 minimum, because the trip costs more than the hardware is worth. Large working screens are free too — we resell those. Small or broken screens and printers carry a per-unit fee either way, because the county charges us to dispose of them. That's the whole price list. There's no fuel surcharge and no paperwork fee.
What about batteries?
A battery that's still inside a laptop comes with the laptop — that's normal and there's no charge. Loose lithium batteries, battery packs and UPS batteries we can't take. There's no legal way for a small operator to store or ship them in any quantity, and they're the single biggest cause of recycling-facility fires. Call Mecklenburg County Solid Waste at 980-314-3867 and ask where to drop them — they run the household hazardous waste program.
Who you're dealing with
I'm Daniel. I'm 23, I live in Charlotte, and ZDCT E-Waste Removal & Destruction is mine — I answer the phone, I drive, I carry the boxes, and I wipe the drives myself. There's no dispatcher and no call center in another state.
I taught myself this. I've been buying, repairing and reselling computer hardware for years, so I know what a machine is worth and what's actually wrong with it, and I read the data-sanitization standard properly rather than copying what the last guy's certificate said. If I'm not sure about something, I'll tell you that instead of guessing.
The business model is simple and I'd rather you know it: the pickup is free because I make my money refurbishing and reselling the equipment that still works. Nothing usable gets crushed, nothing goes to a landfill that doesn't have to, and the drive wiping and the certificate are included because they're the part you actually need and every serious operator includes them.
